Ian Holloway wins big in EFL after beating Doncaster and Bradford bosses

Following Swindon Town’s spectacular ascent up the table, Ian Holloway was named the League Two Manager of the Month for January.

Thanks to groundskeeper Matt Povey’s ability to keep all of their games going during a demanding month of weather, Swindon started 2025 in excellent form and moved away from the threat of relegation, winning four and drawing one of their six games.

After a late comeback from a 2-1 deficit, George Cox’s stoppage-time penalty was the catalyst for the team’s memorable victory over Colchester United at the start of the month.

Town managed to defeat Barrow before traveling to Newport County and securing a significant victory after losing at Notts County and drawing at Crewe Alexandra, where they could have easily obtained more.

After falling behind in the 86th minute, Swindon overcame Tranmere Rovers to win the game thanks to late goals from Paul Glatzel, Harry Smith, and Kabongo Tshimanga. The final game of the month was a similar scene.

Holloway is the fourth manager from Swindon to receive the honor; in addition, it is the fourth time a current Town manager has done so, after Richie Wellens, Paolo Di Canio, and Dennis Wise.

Holloway was chosen over Graham Alexander, Johnnie Jackson, and Grant McCann by a panel of judges that included former Town manager Danny Wilson and Don Goodman, an expert in the EFL for Sky Sports.
