Good news: Swindon Town Boss Ian Holloway receives first major recognition in 2025

Swindon Town’s head coach Ian Holloway has received a nomination for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month Award for January.

Holloway has instilled a sense of optimism at the County Ground. Under his leadership, the team achieved four victories, earning 13 points during their most successful stretch since he took charge, while also extending their home unbeaten run to six matches, including wins over Colchester, Barrow, and Tranmere, along with a draw against Crewe Alexandra.

The winner will be revealed on Friday, February 7, and the judging panel for the Sky Bet Manager of the Month includes former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

The manager of Town will face the following coaches in his quest for his first monthly recognition of the 2024/25 season:

Graham Alexander (Bradford City)

The departure of top scorer Andy Cook might have upset Bradford’s campaign, but Alexander adapted with a 3-4-3 formation to integrate returning key players. The team earned thirteen points from five undefeated matches, including a significant 3-0 victory against league leaders Walsall.

Michel Vorm to Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool ...

Ian Holloway (Swindon Town)

January marked a period when Holloway’s strategies provided increased defensive strength to support Swindon’s offensive capabilities. Alongside accumulating 13 points from six games, the team demonstrated improved cohesion, resulting in goals from eight different players.

Johnnie Jackson (AFC Wimbledon)

Jackson seems to have resolved the consistency problems that plagued the Dons last season. His squad is more solid defensively, allowing only two goals in four unbeaten matches while collecting eight points to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Grant McCann (Doncaster Rovers)

The expectation of being pre-season promotion favorites has sometimes burdened McCann’s players, but his clear communication about remaining patient and composed led to them winning four of their five matches in January, propelling them into second place in the standings.
