Stoke City confirm striker’s return before transfer deadline

By mutual agreement, Ryan Mmaee’s loan agreement with Rapid Vienna was terminated, and he is now back at Stoke City.

Since joining Rapid in early September, the 27-year-old striker has been sidelined by injury and has not been able to appear in a competitive match. He had started the previous two Stoke games, but the Potters’ loan of Tom Cannon from Leicester allowed him to go.

Ryan Mmaee’s loan at Rapid Vienna hasn’t been easy.

But now that Steven Schumacher has left Stoke, along with his replacement and Cannon, new manager Mark Robins is ready to bring Mmaee back to try his hand at an international striker with a 2026 deal.

Sporting director Jon Walters said:

“Ryan has undoubted ability and now has an opportunity to return to Stoke City, showcase his talent and force his way back into contention during the run-in to the end of season and beyond.

“He will receive a warm welcome on his return and will be given every support in his endeavours to get back fit and firing for the club.”
