Swindon Town Set to Secure stunning Midfielder from League one club

Swindon Town Set to Secure League One Midfielder

According to reports, League Two Swindon Town is expected to finalize the loan signing of Josh Benson from League One Barnsley.

The 25-year-old has had difficulty getting playing time in the last two seasons after leaving Championship team Burnley in 2021.

This season, the midfield player has made just six league appearances, totaling just fifteen minutes.

Alan Nixon, however, claims that he will reunite with Ian Holloway at Swindon Town. In the second half of the 2019–20 season, he made 11 appearances for his old team, Grimsby Town, under the Robins manager, scoring two goals.

Is Swindon Town Making Progress?

It is safe to say that Swindon Town supporters were not pleased with how the season started. After a terrible start, manager Mark Kennedy was fired, and Ian Holloway, a former Blackpool manager, took over. The team was sitting just above the drop, suggesting that a relegation battle might be imminent.

However, they have moved up the table to give themselves a 13-point buffer over Carlisle United, who are currently occupying the final relegation spot, thanks to an improvement in form and a run of successful outcomes.

Now that he has a transfer window and time to evaluate his team, Ian Holloway seems to be leading the dormant giants back into contention.

However, the County Ground supporters will need much more persuasion than merely avoiding relegation given the ongoing off-field problems and demonstrations against the ownership.

Next season will be the true test, as supporters hope to see both a major uptick in the table for a team of their size and a resolution of the problems that have dogged Clem Morfuni’s tenure as Swindon Town’s manager. As the season enters its second half, it is unclear if Holloway can maintain the progress.
