Stoke City part ways with striker as transfer deadline approaches
After a year at Stoke City, Niall Ennis is moving to League One.
Last January, on the day of the deadline, Steven Schumacher signed Niall Ennis from Blackburn.
Niall Ennis is now on loan at Blackpool until the end of the season after leaving Stoke City.
In 2024–25, the 25-year-old has made one start and eight substitute appearances for Stoke, and Mark Robins has approved his departure after bringing back Nathan Lowe from a loan at Walsall and bringing in Ali Al-Hamadi on loan from Ipswich Town.
Although Ennis started at Portsmouth last week in the league and scored the game-winning goal for Stoke against Sunderland in the FA Cup third round, he has struggled to find playing time, especially since Steven Schumacher left.
Sporting director Jon Walters said: “With limited opportunities in our squad and interest from several clubs, we felt this was the right move for Niall at this stage. He has previously enjoyed success in the league, and we believe this loan will provide him with the valuable playing time he needs. We wish Niall the best of luck during his time at Bloomfield Road.”
Stoke are still trying to bring in new blood themselves, with the deadline passing at 11pm on Monday.
