Bristol City responds to Stoke City’s bid for Mark Sykes

According to Football League World, Bristol City has turned down Stoke City’s initial offer for midfielder Mark Sykes.

Due to injury and form concerns at the bet365 Stadium, manager Mark Robins is in desperate need of versatile players who can play in both midfield and out wide, which is why the Potters have been relatively quiet on the transfer front this January.

As a result, Bristol City player Sykes has been mentioned as a potential target in recent days. However, FLW can disclose that Stoke’s initial attempt to sign him has been rejected, as the Robins are reportedly eager to retain him for the remainder of the season. This comes after the club made an official bid for his services as the February 3 deadline drew closer.

Bristol City rejected Stoke’s bid for Sykes.

The Potters have made an official bid for Sykes’ services ahead of a possible move in the coming days, according to Anthony Joseph, who followed up on his initial report via X yesterday. Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports first linked Stoke with interest in Sykes’ signature last week, claiming that they were keen on signing him this month and that the two clubs were in talks over a move.

It is unclear how much Stoke offered to sign the Republic of Ireland international, but it is obvious that they have not been able to match Bristol City’s asking price for his services yet.
