Red Sox lost another key front office exec to NL West club

In recent years, the Boston Red Sox have lost several players to the Arizona Diamondbacks, including special assistant to general manager Jason McLeod, general manager Mike Hazen, deputy general manager Amiel Sawdaye, and Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo.

The Red Sox vice president of scouting Mike Rikard is joining the Diamondbacks as a senior scouting adviser, according to Alex Speier of The Boston Globe. This news follows another member of Boston’s front office.

After the 2004 season, Rikard joined Boston’s staff, serving as a national and regional crosschecker and assessing a lengthy list of gifted athletes, such as Christian Vazquez, Anthony Rizzo, and Mookie Betts.

Along with scouting some of Boston’s top players, such as Tanner Houck, Triston Casas, Jarren Duran, Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kristian Campbell, he also assisted in managing drafts.
